The Plainfield Park District is accepting applications to fill a board vacancy. The term will expire in April 2019. Information packets with instructions to apply will be available for pick up starting Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Recreation/Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa Street during regular business hours. Application items must be returned to the Recreation/Administration Center by Noon on Friday, June 2, 2017 in a sealed envelope addressed to Mary Kay Ludemann, President.

Scout Scavenger Hunt (click here for handbook)
Scout is hosting a summer long scavenger hunt appropriately named “Scout Scavenger Hunt.” Scout encourages patrons to look for clues and to answer questions, located in the guide book, taking patrons to an estimated 12 parks throughout the District.
Using the guide book community members will learn about foxes in the state of Illinois, and why it is important to be friend of the earth and all creatures.
Return the completed guide to the Rec/Admin Center to collect your prize(s). See website for

Nicor will be making gas line repairs this summer along the Fort Beggs trail between River Road and Caton Farm that will require the trail and sections of the trail to be closed this Spring. Closures will begin February 17 and the trail is expected to re-open by May 15.
127th Street Reconstruction
Reconstruction of 127th Street, from Heggs Road to roughly 150’ east of the Northwest Community Park Entrance, is scheduled to resume in early April with the road closure and detour in place starting April 3. The road will be completely closed to traffic while the detour is in place. The detour route will utilize Heggs Road, 135th Street, and Route 30. Access to the King's Bridge Subdivision will be maintained through Shenandoah Trail from the Shenandoah Subdivision. 127th Street will be reopened to traffic in September.
